Warmere eerste lente maanden, teken eerder actief!

Warmer first spring months, ticks become active earlier!

After the dark, wet, chilly winter months, we are eager to enjoy the first spring sunshine. The website tekenradar.nl warns that ticks are emerging from hibernation earlier because the first months of the year have been warmer than normal.

First reports already coming in

Dozens of reports of tick bites and infections with Lyme disease have already been received. Figures from the RIVM show that people suffer 1.5 million tick bites every year. Not every tick is infected. Approximately 27,000 people contract Lyme disease, of whom 1,000 to 1,500 will experience long-term symptoms.

Although ticks are most active in the summer, it is wise to be aware of how you can protect yourself in the spring and autumn as well. Tick bite can prevent. Cover body parts with long sleeves and trousers and a cap or hat. Additionally, use, for example, Teekaway, a 100% natural product to apply to your skin. This product contains essential oils that ticks dislike. As a result, the chance of a bite is reduced.

Set out prepared

With our First Aid Kit, you are well prepared for your trip. It contains four products that you can use immediately in the event of a Tick bite: An Tick card to remove the tick properly (just like tick tweezers), Teekaway, Wandelrood Cream with natural ingredients for the bite site, and Teasel Tincture.

In addition, it is good to ensure your immune system is strong. With a healthy and vital body, you are less likely to experience Lyme symptoms from an infection. Your mindset plays an important role in this as well. Do not let anything stop you from fully enjoying the nature around you!
