Teasel Tincture
Dipsacus fullonum
Description
Product description Teasel Tincture from the root
Latin name: Dipsacus fullonum. Also known as Wild Teasel or Prickly Teasel. In English, the plant is often called Wild Teasel or Fuller's Teasel.
Teasel is a robust, biennial plant that stands out for its long stem with spiky leaves and its characteristic, egg-shaped flower heads with purple florets. It is a native plant in Europe and has been valued there for centuries in folk medicine.
Although teasel is less well-known in official herbal medicine, the plant has gained popularity in naturopathic circles in recent years, thanks in part to the work of herbalists like Wolf-Dieter Storl. This has led to growing interest in this unique European herb, even beyond its traditional medicinal uses.
Teasel isn't only used in Europe. In Chinese medicine, the related species Dipsacus japonicus has been used for centuries. There, it's known as Xu Duan, meaning "repair what's broken."
